Programs

St. Andrew’s -Wesley Church looks to initiate and present different programs, which invite you to explore and share your own Christian story – wherever you may be on that journey. Some are weekly like Disciples Bible Study, some are monthly. Some last a few weeks others last a few months. It is the purpose of the church to have a choice of programs that encourage spiritual growth and will help you along your Christian journey. All are Welcome in this place.

CHILDREN, Up to Grade 6

  • Parents in Charge: The importance of being in the lead” – Tuesday, April 17 from 7 – 9:30pm with Drobot Counselling As more and more children attempt to take charge with their parents and teachers, we experience the tremendous challenges that come from having lost our place of natural authority. When children succeed in taking the lead, they become increasingly difficult to parent and to teach. We, the adults responsible for them, become depleted, and no matter how much we do for our children it never seems to satisfy. When children take charge, they are also robbed of the conditions they need to mature and realize their full potential. The solution lies not in parenting "tips" and "techniques" but in clearly understanding where we have gone off track and then restoring the relationship to its proper context. This presentation will identify the signs of a child who is in the lead and how parents/caregivers and teachers can take back the reigns and restore the natural hierarchy that is needed for a child to grow.
